This workshop will uncover the underlying patterns and movement mechanics behind a variety of backbending postures. Tune into the inner body to find new spaces to move into with ease, rather than forcing movements that cause compression and discomfort. Get ready to explore more subtle aspects like working with the breath and mind to experience the precise balance of sthira and sukha or stability and ease. When practiced intelligently and patiently, backbends allow us to experience a new level of awareness and calm. Monica Arellano is a student of Ashtanga Yoga and meditation practices. She began teaching after receiving the formal blessing from her teacher R. Sharath Jois in Mysore, India.
