Marie Belle Perez Rivera

Marie Belle Pérez Rivera, PhD, is an educator, artist, writer, community leader, globally recognized yoga teacher, expert in Somatic and Embodiment Practices for Reducing Stress, Developing Resilience, and Healing Trauma, and a Latina health coach. She is an anthropologist of movement, teacher and practitioner of yoga, mindfulness, and critical thinking throughout the United States, Caribbean, Latin America, Spain, and Bali.

Marie Belle has studied with Self-Realized Master, Sri Mooji Baba and has immersed herself fully in the practice of Ashtanga Yoga with R. Sharath Jois and Richard Freeman, and the Teacher’s Teacher, Sri Dharma Mittra. Through her work, she offers public yoga classes, workshops, teacher trainings, private and group coaching, and transformational retreats in Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and Bali.

She is the founder of Roots Love Yoga, a creative multidisciplinary project with the purpose of uniting, educating, and inspiring teachers, artists, movers, intellectuals, healers, and world travelers. In the thrusts of a global pandemic, we are in a collective cycle of pervasive hyperarousal, anxiety, and confusion. It is important we learn how to stabilize our nervous system, reprogram through mobility, and renegotiate old responses. Get ready to establish a sense of internal safety and security in an unpredictable world.

  • Mobility Magic: Fine Tune and Open - Hip and Shoulder Mobility

    Fine tune your nervous system through Hip and Shoulder Mobility. Join Marie Belle in this morning practice aimed at mobilizing your hips and shoulders in order to access more of yourself, breath, and heart. We will use principles of alignment, mobility, and breath to understand our nervous system and learn how to respond in conscious ways. Practice will begin with light breath work, move towards warm ups and conditioning drills, then finish up with integration via a sweet flow that will leave you feeling open, receptive, and strong.

    Challenge your nervous system in this afternoon of Floating and Flying. Join Marie Belle in this afternoon practice aimed at strengthening your mind, body, and breath. We will experience how stress and difficulty impact our nervous system, learn how to gracefully synchronize our breath and movements, and gradually imprint constructive and resilient responses in the face of hardship. Get ready to work with compression drills for jump throughs and jump backs, learn playful transitions, and explore arm balances.

    Soothe your nervous system in this rejuvenating morning practice. Join Marie Belle in this slower workshop aimed at releasing tension by caring for your mind, body, and breath. We will experience how softening around the edges calms our nervous system, learn how to purposefully synchronize our breath and release, and gradually imprint compassionate and empowering responses in the face of the unknown. Get ready to work with shoulder and wrist mobility, forward folds, and sustain postures for time.

    Integrate all you have learned and take off in your inversion practice. Join Marie Belle in this athletic and dynamic workshop aimed at consciously programming stability and awareness to access freedom and ease in our forearm stands, arm balances, and handstands.
