Kyla Pearce, MPH, RYT-200, CBIS, PhD has practiced yoga for over a decade and has studied ashtanga, vinyasa, trauma-sensitive mindfulness, and vipassana meditation in the United States and India. As the Senior Director of Programs for the LoveYourBrain Foundation, she oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of Yoga, Retreat, and Online Mindset programs for the traumatic brain injury community and Trainings for yoga teachers and clinicians in how to adapt yoga for this population. Kyla blended her expertise as a yoga teacher and researcher to develop the evidence-based LoveYourBrain Yoga curriculum, and has trained over 1,500 yoga teachers and clinicians to deliver it in yoga studios and health care facilities across the United States and Canada. She is also a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Dartmouth College investigating the impact of yoga and meditation for people with neurological conditions. She has published many studies on the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of yoga for brain injury. Her teaching style supports a self-inquiry process for students to feel creative and capable in their bodies and calm and focused in their minds. She lives in Vermont with her husband Adam, and their sons, Bear and Owen.
