Shayan has been steeped in the study of healing arts and wellness since 2003. With an M.S. in Traditional Chinese Medicine, she worked for many years in the integrative medicine center of a hospital in Boulder. Inspired by her dedicated Ashtanga yoga practice, she developed a yoga therapy program at the hospital, adapting the Ashtanga method to meet the needs of cancer and heart patients. She was fortunate to study with Pattabhi Jois in Mysore in 2006, followed by more than a decade of daily practice at the Yoga Workshop, under Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor. From 2014 until its closure in 2019, Shayan owned and ran the Yoga Workshop with her husband, Ty Landrum. She also spent two years in the graduate Religious Studies program at Naropa, with a focus on Sanskrit translation. Shayan is grateful to have continued her studies over the years with many senior teachers in yoga, meditation, yoga nidra, and shamanism, including Robert Thurman, Joan Halifax, Ganesh Mohan, Isa Gucciardi, Rod Stryker, Sharon Salzberg, and Thich Nhat Hanh. For the past eight years, Shayan’s primary practice has been the beautiful experience of motherhood. As a family of four, they now travel the world full-time, teaching yoga and worldschooling their children.
