Grounding and giving, we call her Mother Earth, our home, the source that provides us with nourishment, support and life. The food we eat grows from the earth. We feel safe when we comfortably feel the ground on which we stand. But what happens when the earth is shaky? When we lack food? We begin to worry, get agitated and restless when the earth element losses it’s balance. How do we restore our sense of stability? In this workshop, we will explore and learn about the qualities of the earth element and how certain imbalances through this element can cause a disruption in the flow of energy in our body. Through simple techniques from Shiatsu bodywork as well as some gentle movement, stretches and meditation, participants will be guided to explore the energy pathways (known as meridians) that relate to the earth element and learn ways to restore its balance. Participants will learn to recognize where their energy might be blocked, and how to nurture healing through self-touch by contacting pressure points to find a more calming sense of balance. The workshop will provide helpful tips to release stress and anxiety and promote the natural flow of overall energy in the body.

Ori Flomin is an Israeli artist living in New York City. He holds an MFA in Dance from New York University and has been teaching Dance, Yoga and Shiatsu body work workshops internationally in Europe, Asia, Australia and Israel. He studied Shiatsu at the Ohashi Institute in New York City and maintains an active practice.
