The ancient practices of yoga offer a pathway to personal liberation, but how do we live the teachings of yoga today? In this workshop we’ll consider how we can apply the lessons of yoga to our contemporary lives in the context of social justice and the movement toward equity. The yoga teachings focus on spiritual enlightenment and the journey inward, and offers tools for cultivating a healthy inner relationship which allows us to navigate the challenges of life such as failure, illness, and death. Jivana will explore the impact this inner journey can have on our community experience and communal awakening as he expands on the lessons he shares in his new book, “Yoga Revolution: Building a Practice of Courage & Compassion.”
Jivana Heyman, C-IAYT, E-RYT500, is the founder and director of the Accessible Yoga Association, an international non-profit organization dedicated to increasing access to the yoga teachings. He’s the author of the book, Accessible Yoga: Poses and Practices for Every Body (Shambhala Publications 2019), as well as the forthcoming book, Yoga Revolution: Building a Practice of Courage & Compassion (Shambhala Publications, Nov. 2021).
